Nerd Score
By Jason. Filed in General |Okay, so I am in the middle of an hour and a half long database repository migration, and so I have a few minutes to catch up on blogs. I stumble across this post which leads me to this test. I thought I would come out on the reasonably high end, but I had no idea I would end up with a designation of “Supreme Nerd. Apply for a professorship at MIT now!!!”
So who out there can out Nerd me?! And who is manly enough to admit it

84% – High-Level Nerd. I didn’t know I had it in me. I’m just as surprised as you are.

Sadly, it seems geared at people in the US schooling system, so it’s hard to translate for people that were educated elsewhere, or for people that do work or opensource volunteering on friday nights.
I scored 88% – High Level Nerd, which is good enough for me.

Hi Wez,
I had trouble answering the same questions. I ended up selecting “online gaming/chat” becuase, even though I have not played an online game in years, chat seems similar enough to forums/mailing lists that it was the closest fit. Tells me that the author of the quiz was not nerdy enough to be fit to write the answers

Hmm.
99% – Nerd God.
I did ‘fudge’ the Friday night answer as well since ‘tweaking code/reading forums’ were not on the list.

71% Mid-Rank Nerd
Didn’t quite make it there. I need to improve

oh god! 98%
I thought I was in the 80 to 90% range…
I had to guess on the US specific questions though.
That’s what happens when you begin a XUL programming project just to fill up time till the next update of your current online game… (incidentally, XUL rocks for UI creation!)

Thanks for the link Jason, my score is 81, and that being a non native speaker and answering questions honestly. It’s really easy to score near one hundred if you say what’s needed to say.

Hmmm. It seems I’m only a high-level nerd but that can’t be right. I swear I was scribbling away with a pen and paper the other day, made a mistake, and for a split second found myself unconsciously reaching for undo…
And what was I writing? Code of course
There was no computer to hand.

ARGH. 99%! WTF! I have a financee! How’s this possible?
So I knew the pic was of Maxwell, I’m a geek. I was surprised I wasn’t pulled down by answering that I was using a Mac and Safari.
The question which threw me the most was the elf. I was torn, to elf or not elf, to err is not to be a vulcan. However, she must have dyed her hair if she’s an elf. That question took longer than all the rest.
